25 November 2009

Greetings from a Sunny Chiangmai – where the weather is also getting cooler (17’c this morning at our House…)

Amantaka – Luang Prabang
This is a nice place…. (a usual David understatement !)…
As anyone who has had Clients travelling to Laos will know that good accommodation is a rarity and is generally real difficult to secure – even 6 months to a year out… So the addition of Amantaka to the very limited pool of quality Accommodation in Luang Prabang is a real welcome...

Housed in series of graceful French Colonial Buildings, carefully restored (and internally modernized) in keeping to the UNESCO World Heritage Site regulations -  Amantaka is a peaceful retreat within walking distance of Luang Prabang’s many historical and cultural attractions, including picturesque temples and night markets.

In usual Aman Style, just 24 spacious Suites ( the smallest is still over 70 Sq Meters !), form a delightful courtyard surrounding a huge open plan garden that leads from the Main Resort pool.

16 of these Suites have their own Private Pools & Gardens, and to return here after exploring the many sights of Luang Prabang is the perfect and superbly relaxing way to compliment  your stay in this Ancient City.

We do have contracted rates with Amantaka; however as most of you will realize, these are offered to us on the understanding that they are not sold alone, but as part of an overall package.
So as such we are not able to provide individual Hotel Rates, nor in general to offer solely Hotel Bookings but would include accommodation here as part of an overall Private Luang Prabang Program.

Le Meridien Chiangrai
We visited this property late last year just after it soft-opened and as reported then, that we believed this property would become the best Full Service Hotel in Chiangrai City and the immediate area.

They have now just opened their Ground floor. - Grand Deluxe Rooms, which are really nice and very spacious (66 sq meters).

Again although not in the same league as the Four Seasons Tented Camp and without the unique location of The Anantara Golden Triangle, Le Meridien Chiangrai Resort is certainly a very nice property, with all the new stylish design concepts that Le Meridein are introducing to all their new hotels, just out of the City peacefully located on the river bank.

A perfect solution for Clients who want to visit the Chiangrai & Golden Triangle area, at more affordable rates, but still keeping to a very high standard.

Airline Fuel Surcharges
Many Airlines are continuing with Fuel Surcharges – and in our region, Thai Airways International (TG) & Bangkok Airways (PG) – have just increased their Fuel Surcharges on Domestic & International routes  earlier in October and Thai Airways International (TG) have now announced a further Fuel surcharge Increase on Domestic routes on 1 December 2009

Again as we do indicate in all our correspondence:… “All Air Ticket Costs Variable until actually issued”

..If there is any costs increase to any of our already quoted Programs due to this, and we have not already issued any Air tickets - then unfortunately we are going to have to add this to your Clients Final Program Costs.
We do apologize for any inconvenience, but as you will appreciate, unfortunately we do not have any control over this.

Thanks for your understanding in this matter. - and if you have any specific questions in this regard, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Non-Receipt of E-mails
We recently advised many of you that in the last few of weeks some folks have advised they have not received any reply from us to their e.mail enquiries  …

This still seems to be an issue with some messages -  So again (as most of you know), we always reply to all requests within 24 working hours of receipt (and usually much less !) – So when you do send us a request and if you do not hear from us in 24 (working) hours – Please do let us know so we can re-send. Also because of this, for a while we maybe requesting a “Read Receipt” on any new requests.. just in case….so please acknowledge these and thanks for your patience

I think that’s it for now …Happy Thanksgiving to all of you who celebrate it – and to those who don’t – just have a party anyway..!

Sincerely
David, Wanna & Vachira
And all at Wanna Tours.
