12 October 2005.
Greetings
from Sunny Chiangmai
It’s
been a while since our last news update, but apart from a very welcome
and relaxing Vacation to Australia & New Zealand for us – since our
return we have been busy “Out & About”,…..
Anantara
Resort & Spa Golden Triangle
As we mentioned to you some time ago, The Anantara Resort & Spa at
the Golden Triangle is making inroads to become a Virtuoso Property –
and we recently were involved with a Fam Trip organized by them, in conjunction
with the Tourism Authority of Thailand and Thai Airways International,
to give some Virtuoso Agents a chance to experience this unique Property
(as well as our own Services !!). We will keep you updated on their Progress..
Their current refurbishment
project is well under way, which will eventually see all their Superior
Rooms being upgraded to Deluxe Room standards as well as adding 7 additional
Anantara Suites, bringing the full compliment of luxurious suites to 20.
They have advised us that completion
of this project is still scheduled for late November, 2005 and to ensure
the privacy and comfort of guests, all refurbishing will be confined to
the Mae Sai Wing, allowing the Chiang Saen Wing to be unaffected by any
refurbishing activity.
Maison
Souvannaphoum Hotel, Luang Prabang Laos
We have also just had a brief visit to Luang Prabang in Laos to check
out the Maison Souvannaphoum Hotel. This boutique luxury Hotel, was a
former residence of Prince Souvannaphouma in the 1960s and 70s and has
now been completely renovated by Angsana Resorts (Part of the Banyan Tree
Group). After our most wonderful & relaxing stay there (also having
has just won the Cond? Nast award for best new Boutique Hotel !),
we will certainly be adding this Property to our Luang Prabang Programs,
although with only 24 Rooms & Suites, early bookings are going to
be a must…. For more details check out their website at: http://www.coloursofangsana.com/souvannaphoum/
New
Bangkok International Airport (Suvarnabhumi Airport)
Far be it from me to make comments & predictions when the New Bangkok
International Airport will really open…. But the following article in
Bangkok Post makes for some entertaining reading !! … http://www.bangkokpost.com/en/061005_Horizons/06Oct2005_hori06.php
We will keep you
advised as soon as we have any further (reliable !) information on this
and of course, when it does happen, we will have to review Programs and
Costs, etc. to take this into consideration
Thai
Airways International Non-Stop Flights : New York <> Bangkok – Now
Daily
Further to the launch of Thai Airways International’s non-stop flights
between Bangkok & New York in May this year, utilizing the new super
long-range Airbus A340-500 jet liners. Thai Airways International has
announced that W.E.F. 31 October this will become a DAILY Service.
http://www.thaiair.com/About_Thai/Newsroom/Press_Release/Press_Year_2005/press0905-wu308.htm
So now with the
added convenience of just one, 17 hour non-stop flight and the new concept
of Royal Silk Class, Premium Economy Class, and Economy Class, this can
only make visiting Thailand more of a pleasure with less effort !!.
And

Dates of Arrival & Departure Flights (Chiangmai).
• Full Name (as per passport)
& Agency.
• Rooming Requirements (Single

Air
Tickets
As you would need to fly from Singapore to Chiangmai (and return), for
this Program – and as we are not an Air Ticketing Agent, it would certainly
prove more economical for you to book your own Air Tickets for this sector,
either through your own CRS, on-line or possibly in conjunction with your
International Tickets from the US.
We have therefore NOT included any Air Tickets or Air Ticketing arrangements
in our Costs.
