Yangon (Rangoon)
The Country’s former Capital is a city of history and mystique, where traditional and colonial Burma go hand in hand with a rapidly developing urban environment in spite of all it’s “political” problems.

By far the most awe inspiring of Myanmar’s religious shrines is the Shwedagon Pagoda, built over 2,500 years ago when Yangon was just a coastal fishing village. According to legend, this tremendous bell-shaped stupa, which towers over 300 feet, is the final resting point for eight hairs of the last Buddha (Siddhartha Gautama). The stupa itself is surrounded by an amazing collection of smaller stupas with terraces and bells amassed over a period of 25 centuries.
 
 

Bagan (Pagan)
One of the richest archaeological sites in Asia and at one time considered the world's foremost religious center. This huge area contains thousands of pagodas, stupas and temples, all set in a vast dusty plain beside the Ayeyarwaddy River. For an intimate glimpse of the supreme architecture unique to this bend in the river, you can travel by a horse-drawn carriage to explore the splendor of the Buddhist frescoes and detailed sculpture. Unforgettable sunrise’s or sunset’s at Thatbyinnyu Temple for stunning views of the stupas and pagodas that dot the sprawling plain. also the Ananda Temple, one of Bagan's finest and best preserved monuments.

An interesting side trip from Bagan is to Mount Popa.
This is a solitary extinct volcano, rising to 737 m from the flat surrounding Plain. The shrine at Kaba Aye Zedi is home to Myanmar's intriguing 'nats' (spirits) is at the top of the steep-sided volcanic plug, which can be reached by ascending over Seven.
 

Mandalay
The mere mention of the name Mandalay conjures up a romantic nostalgia for this, Myanmar’s Second largest city and former Royal capital. Apart from it’s many historical buildings, temples, pagodas and interesting sights, Mandalay still remains a center for skilled artisans and crafts specializing in gold leaf work, sculpture, traditional weavings (kalagas) and musical instruments.

As well as the City and the Famous Mandalay Hill, there are many worthwhile and important sites on the outskirts of Mandalay – The monastery and pagoda covered hills of Sagaing; The former ancient capitals of Amarapura and Ava, and a chance for the scenic trip up the Ayeyarwaddy River to Mingun, with its vast unfinished pagoda and world's largest bronze bell - this city of historic beauty should not be missed.
 


Inle Lake
A unique destination and home to the Intha people. The attraction here is the beautiful lake scenery, hazy distant mountains and the amazing local society who have naturally adapted to the lake environment in which they live.

This vast lake is studded with Temples, Stilted houses, floating gardens & vegetable plots, and is renowned for its unique leg-rowers and colorful local markets.
